Bing

The Moon Wonder, and the stage of growth where everything is running at full tilt. As an image it is open flame and the sun itself: close enough to see by, close enough to burn. Bing carries two things in the same hand — the upheaval, and the opening the upheaval creates. Wherever it lands, something is visible that was not visible a moment ago.

• Light and heat: bright, out in the open, carrying authority. It arrives fast and it burns hard, which is the same sentence as saying it does not last.
• The opening inside the upheaval: hope that exists only because things have been shaken loose. Trouble with something good inside it — the most two-faced of the ten stems.
• People: the capable deputy and the military-officer type, and also a lover or the other man in a marriage.
• Fire throws its light ahead of itself and leaves the burn behind. Read Bing on the heaven plate for what is lit up at this moment and which way the heat is travelling; read it on the earth plate for what has already been burned through and what the flame is standing on.

Do not read the hope in Bing as security. The light is brilliant and short — this is the stem of a moment of heat, not of a thing that holds. The opening is real and worth taking; whether it is still there next month is a separate question, and Bing is not the symbol that answers it.

Nature

Feeling arrives fast in the person involved, and arrives unedited. They live in the present tense and move on what is genuinely felt, so enthusiasm or a sudden idea is enough to start them. Outwardly expansive; what they actually need, and almost never say out loud, is to hear that somebody noticed.

Style

Decide and go. The pace is quick, and the person involved is at their best lifting the mood of a room at precisely the moment it needs lifting. Live situations and immediate feedback suit them; long stretches of waiting do not, and when the energy around them drops, theirs drops with it.

Strength

Expression, and the ability to make other people feel something. A few sentences from the person involved and the attention in the room has moved. Front-of-house work fits — promotion, speaking, creative direction — and when the energy is steady the reach is very wide.

Impression

The temperature in a room goes up when the person involved walks into it. Bright, outward, unposed about whatever they are feeling, and pushed into the middle of things without having asked for it. They can carry the mood of an entire group, and get carried off by their own just as easily.

Pitfall

Hot, then cold. Burning through the fuel early leaves nothing for the second half, and the hurry to prove something wrecks the pacing of the thing being proved. Indifference or a flat refusal lands harder on the person involved than it should, and the reaction tends to overshoot the offence.

In a building, Bing is everything that gives off light or heat — the stove, the large appliances, the computer, the electric heater, and anything lit, red or hot to the touch.

• Objects: sunlight and lamps, transformers and generators, televisions, fans and refrigerators, rice cookers and boilers, matches, lighters and fireworks — and red things of any kind.
• Buildings and places: the kitchen, chemical works, power stations, foundries and furnaces, coal — and the southern side of a property and bright open spaces generally.
• Indoors, read the stove, the gas cylinder and the high ground of the floor plan; outdoors, Bing very often lands on the chimney.

When reading a physical environment, the three handles for Bing are light, fire and red. Find the light source, the heat source and the red object — whatever they turn out to be, Bing is there.
